KeyCreator V7, the latest version of its widely used design and manufacturing software, provides considerable new functionality to the company's use of geometry and intelligent freeform modeling capabilities, allowing users to easily import, edit and work on non-native files. New Pattern and Feature Discovery functionality provides the ability to quickly highlight, prune and graft distinct model elements, patterns, groups of features and fillets. Kubotek has added intelligence to KeyCreator 6 to enable the software to easily manipulate features in so-called “dumb files”.

Solid

Wireframe

Kubotek's Open 3D Modeling technology has a strong foundation in 3D wireframe basic geometry such as lines, arcs, splines, points and polygons. These wireframe entities are the traditional CAD elements of 2D drawing and commonly used in Open 3D Modeling to aid in transitioning users and drawings from 2D into 3D. Because wireframe entities are simple, they translate between CAD systems very well. Providing strong support of these basic entity types is important for efficiently reusing model data that comes from IGES, DXF and DWG, prototyping, machining and inspection equipment.

Hybrid

KeyCreator's hybrid modeling tools combine the best of surfacing technology with the strongest solids capabilities to deliver one robust design tool. The hybrid approach frees designers from the restrictions of using separate packages, with different interfaces and capabilities, for surfacing or solids needs.

KeyCreator create both surfaces and solids in one seamless environment. Users can quickly create complex shapes with surfaces and then stitch them into a solid to add more mechanical features such as fillets or holes. At any point the designer can turn the solid, or the faces of a solid, into surfaces and vice versa. This hybrid approach gives designers greater speed and flexibility in model creation.
