If you have previously using KeyCreator 6.3 or later version you may able to restore the customisation and configuration settings by using Setting Import and Export function.

Customize with STS Default Setting

In an effort to streamline the transition to KEYCREATOR Products, STS has developed this STS Default Setting Archive File to help customise your KEYCREATOR system.

  1. Download the STS KeyCreator 7.0 Setting Archive
  2. Unzip and extract the files to a location on you computer.
  3. Begin by selecting Tools Menu => Settings Import
    • Image:Setting-import.JPG
  4. Select Include Workspace File, Include Default and PRT Templates and Include all registered KXL Files options.
  5. Select the STS Settings Archive File (STS-KC701-Config.ksa)
  6. Click Open.
  7. Click Yes to All to override the old files.
  8. STS Default KeyCreator setting will apply to your KeyCreator Installation.

Setting Import and Export

(New Since Version 6.3)

KeyCreator 7 provided this function to allow users to export and import the KeyCreator’s setting to/from an archive file. The .ksa file includes general setting including all the customisation setting.

Export Setting

  1. Begin by selecting Tools Menu => Settings Export
    • Image:Setting-export.JPG
  2. Select Include Workspace File, Include Default and PRT Templates and Include all registered KXL Files options.
  3. Select the location for the file and give a file name for the Settings Archive File (.ksa)
  4. Click Save
  5. The Current KeyCreator setting will save to the ksa file.

Import Setting

  1. Begin by selecting Tools Menu => Settings Import
    • Image:Setting-import.JPG
  2. Select Include Workspace File, Include Default and PRT Templates and Include all registered KXL Files options.
  3. Select the location for the Settings Archive File (.ksa)
  4. Click Open.
  5. Click Yes to All to override the old files.
  6. The Backed up KeyCreator setting will restore to this KeyCreator Installation.

Troubleshooting

Note: in event of receiving an Invalid path error message, please take the following step to complete the function:

  1. Create the directory as it stated on the error message (eg. C:\KeyCreator7.0\ and C:\KeyCreator7.0\ckt ) and try the import function again.
  2. Relocate the Workspace file (wap) to your work directory if required.
  3. In Setup Tab click Load and select the classic.kbd on your KeyCreator directory
  4. Select the CDE files from the new KeyCreator directory
  5. Adjust the backup folder location under Saving Tab
  6. Adjust the new part template file location under Misc Tab
