KeyCreator:Dongle Troubleshooting

Dongle Diagnostic

To check is the Dongle functional, there's 2 way: By using Register.exe or/and Sentinel License monitor. We recommended to use Register.exe utility first.

Make sure you already have your Dongle plug in to the computer

Register.exe

  1. Use My Computer or Windows Explorer, Navigate to your KeyCreator Installed Directory eg. C:\keyCreator7.0 find and run the application call Register.exe
    • If you can not locate the register utility, it can also be download from here: KC-Register
    • The following screen should come up:
      register.exe.jpg

Sim Status should shown either Activated or Not Activated.

  • If it stated NO SIM DETECTED, please check the Dongle troubleshooting for instruction.
  • If Sim Status shown Not Activated, You'll need to Activate the Dongle before continue to Licensing Section, Please ready Activate Dongle Section for more information.

Sentinel License monitor

  1. Open your Internet Browser, eg. Internet Explorer or Mozilla Filefox
  2. Enter http://localhost:6002 in to the address bar then press Enter
    • You should see the following screen:
      Sentinel License Monitor

You should able to see your 4 digit Dongle number Serial Number field

Note: You also need Java Runtime Environment (JRE) and Sentinel Driver Installer Full Installation to be installed for this to work.

Dongle Troubleshooting

This Troubleshooting guide will help you to locate the problem when your KeyCreator reported that Can not found the Sim.

  1. Do you have other Hardware Key or Dongle in use on the same computer?
  2. Is your dongle work on other computer?
    • If so, The Parallel Port or USB port on your computer is malfunction or not been installed. Contact your IT support.

Parallel Dongle

  1. Did you completed the KeyCreator Dongle Installation?
  2. Is your Dongle plugged-in to your computer?
  3. In the Device Manager, locate and Click on the "+" icon next to the Port (COM & LPT), is Printer Port (LPT1) present?
    • If you can not see the Printer Port (LPT1), The Parallel Port on your computer is malfunction or not been installed. Contact your IT support. otherwise, continue.
  4. Is Sentinel License monitor utility report that the Dongle's not present.
  5. Is Register.exe utility reported that no Dongle present.

If all the above testing failed, you may have a faulty Dongle and need to be replaced. The Cost of Dongle replacement is A$110 including GST and Shipping. Please Contact STS for further instruction.

USB Dongle

  1. Did you completed the KeyCreator Dongle Installation?
  2. Is your Dongle plugged-in to your computer?
  3. IS the LED Light on the USB Dongle turned on?
    • If the LED Light is off, try to un-plug and re-plug in the dongle to a different USB port.
  4. In the Device Manager, locate and Click on the "+" icon next to the Universal Serial Bus Controller, is SafeNET USB SuperPro/UltraPro present?
    • If you can not see the Universal Serial Bus Controller, The USB Port on your computer is malfunction or not been installed. Contact your IT support. otherwise, continue.
  5. Is Sentinel License monitor utility report that the Dongle's not present.
  6. Is Register.exe utility reported that no Dongle present.
