Surface Modeling

KeyCreator Open 3D Modeling technology includes a comprehensive set of surface creation tools. Surfaces offer all the visualization and downstream machining capabilities of solids and provide the power needed to precisely define any complex shape imaginable. Sophisticated tools like curve mesh networks, rail surfaces, n-sided surfaces, lofts, blending, fillets, and many others. Kubotek surfacing functions are intuitive and easy to use.

N-Sided Surface

An n-sided surface can be created from a set of closed boundary curves or edges. Options allow tangency conditions to be held at boundaries or not, and additional guide curve(s) and point(s) can be used to control the shape. The function will automatically trim the surface to the desired shape. This capability enables designers to easily fill a complex multi-sided area automatically with a single surface.

Rail Surface

Create surfaces by sweeping one or more curves along one or more rail curves. Designers can quickly define complex shapes even with sharp corners. Rail curves and section curves can consist of multiple curves without the need to “join” curves together.

Curve Interpolation Surface

The General Curve Interpolation method is a construction technique that builds a surface that passes through a sequence of 2D or 3D curves. Selecting multiple sections with multiple curves per section gives the designer unlimited creative freedom.

Skin/Loft Surface

Designers can create a surface through a sequence of curve or edge profiles. This function offers the option to add tangency constraints at any of the profile sections. Designers are able to create surfaces not only with boundary constraints but also tangent constraints for more control of the resulting surface.

Curve Mesh Surface

This capability creates a surface from a network of intersecting curves. Designers can quickly define a complex shape using 2D/3D curve sections with multiple curves without the need to join curves. This function will automatically interpolate between sections even if the sections don’t intersect each other giving designers more flexibility to be creative.
